Coffee with a Heart

People often ask us why we purchased House of Joe.  Here’s the scoop on why we chose do what we do…

We bought the coffeehouse to have an impact locally and globally.  Every decision we make is to this purpose…. Even down to the choice of our beans. Every bean we purchase has a global impact. We use Fair Trade Beans, which means the local farmer receives a fair and equitable profit for his crop, which in turn allows him to improve his field and take care of his or her family. 10% of every dollar we spend for our coffee is donated to the International Justice Mission. This organization fights global Human Trafficking.

Our “Coffee with a Heart” program is ready to go into full force. This program allows the proceeds from different sources of revenue, to boost 5 programs. There are three locally. The first two Brevard Sharing Center and Daily Bread, directly impact the lives of infants to seniors by providing basic needs, which is why we chose them.  www.dailybreadinc.org       mysbsc.org

Rescued Horses and Saved Kids is a charity started by our partner, Patty Foster, and her friend Valerie Whitworth. They rescue unwanted horses and train children and young adults to ride and to supply the horses basic needs. They also work with Autistic children monthly to build trust and to give a pleasurable outing that provides needed social interaction.

There are two international missions.   The first, the Bob Tebow Evangelistic Association does work in several nations. They help to stabilize those rescued from Human Trafficking, by providing financial assistance to organizations supplying basic needs and support. They also give financial aid to orphanages around the world, as well as the the one they fund themselves.  To learn more: www.btea.org

The Second international mission is Good Shepherd Ministries of Haiti.  They have 7 schools and are raising funds to build a hospital for the locals in the Cap Haitian area.  Most hospitals in Haiti are government run and it can be very difficult for the poorest to get proper assistance.  G.S.M. has purchased the land, and is now in the fund raising stage for the build.   Please see the link to learn more about them.  www.gsmi-haiti.org

Through our wholesale coffee purchases and retail sales, we have a direct impact on the world around us. We partner with our customers to make our world a better community.
